Public Relations Ambassadors

DISTRICT 60 PUBLIC RELATIONS AMBASSADOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Your role as a Public Relations Ambassador is to assist the District Public Relations Officer in establishing and maintaining mutual lines of communication, understanding, acceptance and cooperation between your Division and the public, working to increase awareness of Toastmasters through all available media.

It is important that you keep in mind that the purpose of any public relations effort is to work together with the PRO to fulfill the district mission, which is ... to enhance the performance and extend the network of clubs, thereby offering greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from the Toastmasters educational program.

As Public Relations Ambassador, you will work in cooperation with the PRO and your Division Governor to keep the public informed of district and division activities, events, goals, achievements and educational programs.

Your focus should be to assist both the PRO and your Division Governor in:

  • Keeping both members and non-members aware of the Toastmasters program
  • To garner publicity for Toastmasters
  • Achieving your division's goals for:
  • Membership building and retention
  • Achievement of CCs, ACs, CLs, ALs and DTMs.

Qualifications:

  • Having served at least 1 successful term in office as a VP PR would be desireable but not mandatory. Equivalent professional and/or volunteer experience in the community, with applied knowledge of press releases, media alerts, Internet social media and the like will be given strong consideration.
  • An ability to quickly learn new concepts, coachable, a team player and a willingness to try new challenges is highly desireable.
  • Noted enthusiasm for Toastmasters and Public Relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with PRO to implement the district's public relations plan
  • Regularly attend Division Council meetings
  • Develop publicity through the use of the press, television, radio and other media aimed at making Toastmasters better known
  • Serve as media representative for your division
  • Review and recommend to the PRO all publicity material dealing with your division's programs and activities
  • Serve as a public relations resource to your Division's clubs
  • Assist in providing effective training and leadership development opportunities
  • Prepare recommendations for a successor by June 30
