About Us

Membership in Toastmasters is available to anyone who is 18 years of age, or older. It is one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself, and one of the most cost-effective skill-building tools available anywhere. Your participation in Toastmasters will help you;

              Increase your self-confidence

          •  Become a better speaker

          •  Become a better leader

          •  Communicate more effectively

A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure.

Members learn Communication skills by working in the Competent Communication manual, a series of 10 self-paced speaking assignments designed to instill a basic foundation in public speaking. These assignments can be completed at the member’s own pace.

Members also learn Leadership skills by taking on various meeting roles and working in the Competent Leadership manual. In our learn-by-doing approach, members are not lectured about leadership skills; they are provided the opportunities to accept responsibilities, together with supportive guidance and mentoring.

Visitors are welcome at any Toastmasters meeting, and are always assured of a warm welcome. Visitors and prospective members are encouraged to attend meetings at several clubs, to see the Toastmasters program in action, without any obligation. Clubs differ in size, culture, types of venues, meeting times and lengths, so "shopping around" is always a good idea to ensure that you find a club that suits you, your goals and your lifestyle.
